A locals guide to Australia's Gold Coast

Aotearoa-born film photographer Ruby Holland is now based on the Gold Coast with her young family. She recently shared a visual diary of her favourite spots to swim, eat, and explore in the area. Whether you’re planning a Summer getaway, looking for inspiration to uncover local hidden gems or the perfect spot to visit with young children, her guide offers plenty of reasons to fall in love with this coastal paradise.

Tallebudgera to Burleigh Heads walk

– A couple of my favorite places to swim - Burleigh Heads & Tallebudgera creek. There is a beautiful walk around the headland which connects to two. I love grabbing a takeaway coffee, and walking to Echo beach which is just off the track - it's the dreamiest swimming spot!

The Salt Mill

– My favorite place to go for the best Acai Bowls. I go for the Choc Coconut bowl, and it's so so good - the best treat on a hot Summer's day. The Salt Mill is right on the beach in Currumbin.

Moustache

– Our local, situated in Nobby Beach. Conveniently just a 5 minute walk from my house, and is my go-to for a coffee in the morning, or a wine and bite to eat in the afternoon. The focaccia and burnt butter is beyond.

Nobby's Beach

– Our local beach, Nobby's which I wander down to several times a day with my little family! I especially love coming down at the end of the day with my little boy for a swim before dinner.

The whole coastline along the Gold Coast is just beautiful and we feel so lucky to live so close to the water!
